Winter Garden

Year One (1)

Year one has been truly amazing and nerve wrecking at the same time. My garden was finally completed just before the fall. It did very well except for few things that I will mention below. First, this winter has been the mildest I've seen in recent history. We've had so many warm days it has been amazing; even today it was 87 degrees Fahrenheit in winter!!!  So, I cannot say for sure what it would have truly been like had our winter been normal. Below are some of the pictures from

First Things First!!!
I know it is not good to start with negatives but I cannot believe what happened to my bushes! While I was bundled up inside keeping away from cold, deer were lunching on my bushes! Deer God! They have eaten my Indian hawthorns, my pristine laurel and few other plants.Unbelievable! They ate my Indian hawthorns to stumps! I am thinking of returning them to the store for replacement!

They also nibbled my pristine laurel! I was so looking forward to this plant; we will see what it can produce. After much consideration, I decided to do something about it. I went to Lowes with hopes of buying a chicken fence to put around some of my bushes, I saw some rod iron fence at less than $8 a piece on special! After buying them I did some research online on how to repel deer! I came across a product called "liquid fence"; I decided to buy it in hopes of preventing any further damage to my bushes. Liquid Fence has some great reviews and I've only applied it once cause it has been raining a lot in our area.
