Summer Garden

Summer 2012 has not been great for my garden but I remain optimistic as gardens always renew themselves.  First, it was one of the hottest summers on record with plus 100 degree weather for days at a time. To make things worse, I went away for a vacation for almost four weeks! So, when we came back it was weed city and some plants did die even though others thrived. This was our first summer after we completed our garden makeover so I was looking forward to it with great anticipation after a great spring showing from my garden. Everything was coming along until we went on vacation and some plants died. In the end, I am happy about those that survived.

One of the biggest disappointments were my perennials followed by some bushes which did not perform well at all. My pristine Laurel is definitely not happy were it is, and I need to move it; I just don't know where to put just yet. Also, Greenscapes Inc. is driving me nuts now. When they removed sod from my garden they left a ton of grass on the ground which is now growing everything. I will blog about this on a separate page. My garden is coming along and I am hopeful that it will get better with time.
